Ryan Zahrai is the founder and Legal Director of Zed Law, bringing a unique blend of commercial, health, and international legal expertise to the firm’s leadership. With First Class Honours in Law, an MBA, and a background in psychology and health, Ryan’s career spans senior in-house counsel roles at Australia’s leading health and technology companies, including as Head of Legal at Eucalyptus and Lead Commercial Counsel at GenesisCare. In these roles, he advised on complex commercial, regulatory, and health sector matters, supporting rapid business growth and innovation in the healthtech sector.
Ryan’s legal experience is truly global, with formative work in Israel, Samoa, and Malaysia, where he contributed to legal education and indigenous land rights initiatives. He has also led legal teams in Israel and managed major deliverables for private equity–backed healthcare companies, giving him deep insight into the regulatory and commercial issues faced by startups and multinationals alike.
Known for his strategic, no-nonsense approach, Ryan delivers clear, actionable legal solutions and is recognised for building long-term partnerships with high-growth founders, investors, and businesses. He leads Zed Law’s decentralised team of senior lawyers across Australia and internationally, enabling agile, tech-driven legal services. Nandan Subramaniam is Head of Commercial at Zed Law, where he is recognised for his commercial acumen, adaptability, and commitment to delivering practical, business-focused legal advice. With an LLB (Hons) and Bachelor of Economics (Distinction) from UNSW, Nandan’s career spans top-tier firms, in-house counsel roles, and boutique practices. He began his legal journey at Ashurst, gaining deep experience in complex contracts, business transactions, and dispute resolution before moving in-house at a fast-growing fintech, where he led cross-functional teams on enterprise deals and regulatory compliance.
Nandan’s approach is defined by his ability to embed himself within clients’ businesses, providing real-time, solution-oriented advice that balances legal rigour with commercial pragmatism. He has successfully led clients through high-stakes cross-border transactions and is known for leveraging legal technology to drive efficiency and results. Recognised as a Future Legal Leader by Australasian Lawyer, Nandan is passionate about building accessible, tech-enabled models for legal service delivery and mentoring the next generation of lawyers.

Prior to joining Zed Law, Alex was a senior associate in the Disputes and Investigations team at Allens, one of Australia’s leading top-tier law firms, where he advised major corporates and high-growth businesses on high-stakes disputes, regulatory investigations, and risk management strategies.
Alex is known for his strategic, commercially-minded approach—prioritising pragmatic solutions and negotiated outcomes wherever possible, but always ready to advocate vigorously in court when needed. Previously a Senior Associate at King & Wood Mallesons and a disputes lawyer at Arnold Bloch Leibler, Arisha is known for her expertise in financial services disputes and IP law, as well as her innovative work in legal technology. She has also served as a Judicial Law Clerk at the Federal Court of Australia and is passionate about building legal tech tools to drive efficiency and results.
